Híbridos, glocalizados y hecho en México: influencias extranjeras en la programación televisiva mexicana desde los cincuentas

Resumen

Empleando teorías de hibridación cultural, este artículo argumenta que la programación de entretenimiento mexicana –en particular la telenovela- es fundamentalmente un híbrido, que mina la celebrada mexicanidad. La historia de la novela es remontada, ilustrando sus características globales y locales. Además, se argumenta que a la par que la novela logró una estabilidad formal, su abierta hibridación disminuye. Más aún, las afirmaciones de una reciente regionalización, en la que los productores adoptan el realismo social sudamericano o maximizan la exportabilidad al universalizar su producto, han sido exageradas. Sería de utilidad pensar en la telenovela como un híbrido en sus etapas tempranas, pero desde los años setentas se autentifica como un artefacto mexicano.
