Abstract

The Access to Digital Services in Public Libraries Program (PASDBP, from the abbreviation in Spanish) is assessed in relation to three categories proposed for the digital divide: access, use and possession of information and communication technologies (ICT). Even though this Program pretends to bring free access to computers and Internet, the physical location of these resources within public library facilities could be raising access and utilization obstacles, derived from the work routines traditionally observed in these spaces. Despite this, PASDBP is an initiative that could have its mayor social incidence particularly in high-poverty rate communities, where no other ICT access possibilities are present.
