Abstract

In this article there is analyzed the technological capacity of the Venezuelan journalists, as for the Internet use as Source of Information (IFI), in the first attempt for describing to this category as a strategy of advantage "glocal" of telematic nets. The IFI use is described and the processes of learning and technological assimilation in the professionals of the social communication are analyzed, taking as theoretical sustenance the postulates of: Castells (1997) and Garci'a Canclini (1998) as far as globalización and “glocalidad”; and in the lineamientos of Bell (1997) as far as technological learning. In this descriptive investigation, the electronic mail was applied to a questionnaire to a population of 373 journalists in line using like interphase. Between the findings it emphasizes that in its great majority, the journalists who use IFI they follow the criterion “to observe and to collate” data generated in digital mass media and develop little initiatives of investigation in more interactive services, like forums and lists of discussion. A 25% of the population have inactive accounts of mail, and only 13.4% showed their active task in the telemáticas networks.
