Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in comments to the editor).
  • The submission file is written in a word processor software, preferably Microsoft Word.
  • The guidelines established in the Citation and References Guide have been followed.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • The Declaration of Authorship of Unpublished Material and Transfer of Rights has been prepared and will be sent as a supplementary file.
  • It has been verified that the file does not include the author's information, both in the text and the file properties.

Author Guidelines

The articles submitted for review must comply the journal’s general policies and undergo a rigorous editorial process in order to be published.

All collaborators must register as authors on the OJS platform, although only one will be responsible for correspondence. Authors should make sure to provide their ORCID identifier (https://orcid.org/).

The authors must carefully follow the next guidelines:

Manuscript’s Features
• Submissions must be anonymous. The authors must ensure to omit any information that might lead to their identification. Submissions must not appear in any other webpage in order to avoid any interference in the blind review process.
• Articles that have been previously published will not be accepted.
• The submitted articles must be constituted by original material, and the authors must ensure the fidelity of the information they present. Other author’s contributions mush be always adequately referenced or quoted, so they will not be considered plagiarism. The manuscripts must not include more than 20% of texts published somewhere else by the same authors. When making reference to other works of their own, authors must properly quote them.
•The manuscripts will be in a formal academic format. 

Manuscript’s Format
• Text processor file, preferably, Microsoft Word
• Margins: Top and bottom of 2.5 cm, and sides of 2 cm..
• Font: Times New Roman with the following characteristics: 

- Main title: 18 points, centered, capital letters, single line spacing
- Spanish title: 14 points, centered, capital letters, single line spacing
- Section headings (Abstract, Resumen, Introduction, Theoretical Framework, Methods, Results, Conclusions): 11 points, centered, bold, sentence case
- Sub-headings: 11 points, aligned to the left, bold, sentence case
- Text body: 11 points, justified, 1.5 line spacing
- Block quotes: 11 points, italics, justified, 4 cm left margin
- The title must inform in a precise and direct manner about the content of the article. It must not exceed 100 characters (including spaces). It will be included in English and Spanish.

• The title must directly represent the result stated in the article and to be written in Spanish and English. It should not exceed 85 characters in length, incluiding spaces.
• An abstract in Spanish and English of no more than 200 words reflecting the objective of the work, the materials and methods used, the most relevant results and conclusions on the scientific contribution to the subject will be written.
• Three to five key words that accompany the abstract in both languages should be included.
• GMJM uses the reference format of the American Psychological Association (7th Ed.) in accordance with the guidelines of the International Communication Association (ICA). Manuscripts must follow the guidelines contained in the Citation and References Guide. For issues not covered by these guidelines, we recommend to visit the Purdue Online Writing Lab guide  on the APA reference system.
• The reference list must be in English, that is, the references of articles written in any language must use “&”, “In”, and the months must also be in English. This does not mean the references’ titles should be translated.
• The use of footnotes is not allowed, so they should be integrated as endnotes, and they will be located after the references. Endnotes will only be used when strictly necessary and their goal is to provide information that cannot be included during the text of the article. It is recommended to avoid the use of this resource.
Tables: They will be placed where they correspond within the text in editable format in the text processor. The title should be clear and descriptive, following a consecutive order represented by Arabic numerals.
Figures: They will be placed where they correspond within the text ensuring that images are in high resolution. The title should be clear and descriptive, following a consecutive order represented by Arabic numerals.

Additionally, the Declaration of Authorship of Unpublished Material and Transfer of Rights must be sent as a supplementary file.

Articles

The papers received for this section should be adjusted to the journal's theme and editorial policy standards. The papers must have a solid theoretical foundation, methodological work (empirical evidence support based on quantitative or qualitative research techniques), and discussion of the results. The maximum extension will be 25 pages including title, abstracts, text, tables and references. They are subject to double-blind arbitration.

Research Reports

This section is dedicated to publishing research reports that offer our readers detailed information and reflections on specific and relevant projects in the field of communication research. The idea is to have more extensive works compared to regular articles, allowing a deeper knowledge of the methodology and the conceptual and practical decisions. Therefore, the number of pages can be as extensive as it is required.

Book Reviews

It includes recent reviews that provide analysis and information on publications that contribute to the study and communication practices at a national and international level. They must have a maximum extension of two pages.

Thesis Summaries

This section summarizes master and doctoral's dissertations dedicated to communication research by our universities: Texas A & M International University and Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León.

The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.
